In August, we hosted the Unhurried Living: Grounded in the Basics retreat in Kiel, Wisconsin. It was a wonderful and restorative day of connection and wellness! The takeaway of the retreat was that wellness doesn't have to be fancy or expensive—simple, basic practices can have powerful impacts.
Participants learned about practical wellness tools to support everyday life. They included building connections and community, breathwork and "nerve flossing" exercises, journaling, creating wearable art, eating whole foods, post-meal walks, and mobility exercises. During our walk along the beautiful Sheboygan River, we paid tribute to U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Amy S. Krueger, a Wisconsin native who died in an attack on Fort Hood in 2009. We ended the day with a relaxing sound bath and left feeling refreshed after a day of active wellness weaving.
A big thank you goes to Sheila D. for the use of the venue—it was a gorgeous location right on the river. And thank you to Chef Val for cooking a delicious and nutritious lunch. We're grateful for a fantastic retreat!

On June 13, Humble Warrior Wellness & Yoga welcomed thirteen women veterans, firefighters, and law enforcement professionals to our Rooted & Rising: Newcomers' Wellness Retreat at The Third Place in Atlanta. This was a wonderful day of connection, reflection, and holistic wellness for newcomers to Humble Warrior.
Participants paused from the demands of service and everyday life to nourish their minds, bodies, and spirits through yoga, breathwork, guided journaling, meaningful conversation, and a delicious plant-based meal prepared by professional Chef Shai. Some lucky women even took home tasty leftovers!
A special thank you to Shai and Karen Lavi of The Third Place for hosting and Army veteran Bill Beverly from The Spoon nonprofit for connecting us. We are grateful to every woman who attended and contributed to such a supportive and inspiring experience. We encourage everyone to weave wellness practices into their life.
Together, we paused. Connected. Reflected. And rose!
